Matcha-Infused Honey

from $16.00

It's a matcha made in heaven. Andrew has partnered with a small farm in Uji, near Kyoto, the site of Andrew’s alma mater, to create our matcha infused honey. Mixed into our local wildflower honey, this blend is a creamy, green fantasy with grassy notes. Simply mix into hot water for a mild sweet tea, or drizzle onto vanilla ice cream. Some have lathered it onto their pancakes or waffles and even incorporated it into the batter for both. It is a lovely combination of flavors. This product as a distinct green color, smooth texture and unique taste.

Matcha is the result of stone grounding green tea leaves into a fine powder. In Japanese culture, this powder is added to hot water to create tea instead of infusing tea leaves. Matcha is also used in the preparation of traditional Japanese desserts. Nowadays, this food product is infused in cocktails and lattes for its proven health benefits.

Matcha is rich in antioxidants particularly in catechines, L-theanine and fibers. Matcha also contains caffeine and trace amounts of numerous minerals and vitamins. Studies on matcha show concentration and cognition boost, cancer prevention, cholesterol reduction, blood pressure lowering, liver health promotion and autoimmune uveitis relief. We aren’t claiming that our product can do all of this - we are just passing along some things we’ve heard.

Use in smoothies. Sprinkle it on oatmeal and granola. Stir it into morning yogurt. Add it to baked goods. Make a savory latte or flavored hot chocolate. Blend into a banana, spinach, and coconut smoothie. Or just eat it off of a spoon or chopstick.
